Accredited by the Romanian College of Physicians with 12 CME credits and endorsed by EAES, this hands-on workshop is addressed to resident doctors and specialists in general surgery, gynecology, colorectal surgery, oncologic surgery.
During this event, the attendants will learn about:
- the physical phenomenon of fluorescence and applicability in medicine, with a role in the functional exploration of tissue perfusion;
- the computerized interpretation of images obtained after ICG injection, with a role in identifying anatomical structures and assessing their perfusion;
- the adaptation of surgical techniques based on the information obtained after ICG injection;
- the introduction of this technique for visualizing tissue perfusion in operative practice;
- the correct use of ICG visualization technology and will manipulate the technology necessary to visualize fluorescent substances used in both classical and minimally invasive operations;
- establishing the indication and contraindication of this method;
- drafting their own ICG injection protocols, adapted to the surgical pathology approached;
- interpretation of lymphography and early evaluation of tissue perfusion, intraoperatively, after ICG administration;
- ICG administration protocols - intravenous, subcutaneous, intradermal, endoscopic - adapted to the type of surgery;
- application of ICG in the protocols for identification and bioptic excision of the sentinel nodes in cutaneous or gynecological neoplasms (indication, patient training, surgical technique, postoperative care);
- indications of the method, protocols applied in international surgery centers, methods of administration depending on the desired evaluations (vascular or lymphatic), particular cases, anatomical variants, atypical locations of the structures identified by ICG.
The attendants will practice basic maneuvers on anatomical models. These techniques are necessary for the injection, visualization and interpretation of the obtained images. The attendants will practice the fluorescent injection maneuvers on different models, including functional tissues, followed by vascular or lymphatic dissections.
The workshop includes live surgery, theoretical lectures, case discussions, comments, videos, practical exercises on models and functional tissues, training and handling the technology used to visualize ICG in classical or minimally invasive surgical techniques.
