Who should attend?
This hands-on workshop is designed for resident physicians and specialists in general surgery and gynecology, with basic or intermediate experience in laparoscopic surgery who wish to enhance their technical and theoretical skills in minimally invasive gynecologic procedures.
Learning objectives
During the 3-day training, participants will:
- Acquire the ability to correctly recognize and handle laparoscopic instruments and choose appropriate techniques for different procedures.
- Learn to safely establish pneumoperitoneum and to handle the camera for optimal image visualization.
- Develop bimanual dexterity and precise surgical gestures for tissue manipulation, sharp and blunt dissection, diathermic coagulation, clipping, sectioning, drain insertion, specimen extraction, and trocar site closure.
- Gain the necessary knowledge for the correct use of electrosurgical instruments.
- Learn simple and efficient methods for performing laparoscopic knots and sutures.
- Deepen their understanding of laparoscopic pelvic anatomy.
- Understand patient positioning, trocar placement, and OR setup specific to gynecologic laparoscopic surgery.
- Identify and analyze intraoperative incidents and complications, and learn optimal strategies for their management.
- Practice key laparoscopic techniques including adnexectomy, hysterectomy, and myomectomy.
Teaching methodology
The workshop includes:
- Live surgery demonstrations
- Theoretical lectures and video presentations
- Case-based discussions with expert commentary
- Extensive hands-on training on pelvitrainer, POP-trainer, and functional tissue models
Outcomes
At the end of the workshop, participants will consolidate their theoretical and practical knowledge, gaining confidence in applying minimally invasive gynecologic techniques safely and effectively in their surgical practice.
