Who should attend?
This workshop is addressed to residents and specialists in general surgery with basic or intermediate experience in laparoscopic surgery.
Learning objectives
During the 2-day training, participants will:
- Acquire the knowledge required for the correct interpretation of surgical anatomy in laparoscopic approaches (both transperitoneal and totally extraperitoneal).
- Practice ambidexterity and master the correct surgical gestures for safe manipulation of funicular structures, sharp/blunt dissection in the preperitoneal space, and mesh insertion, positioning, and fixation.
- Gain insights into intraoperative incidents and complications during laparoscopic hernia repair, and learn the best strategies for preventing and managing them.
Teaching methodology
The workshop includes:
- Live surgery demonstrations
- Theoretical lectures & video presentations
- Case-based discussions and expert commentary
- Hands-on practice with pelvitrainer, POP-trainer, and functional tissue training
Outcomes
At the end of this workshop, participants will be more confident in their theoretical knowledge and practical skills for the laparoscopic management of inguinal hernias, enabling them to safely integrate these techniques into their daily practice.
