Fully Booked! Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy for Breast Cancer and Melanoma - REDUCED FEES with the support of Diagnostic Green
Period: 18.09.2025 - 19.09.2025
Accredited by the Romanian College of Physicians with 12 CME credits, this hands-on workshop is designed for resident physicians and specialists in general surgery, gynecology, and oncological surgery who are interested in the modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to neoplasia.
The workshop includes live surgical demonstrations, theoretical lectures, video presentations, case discussions, and hands-on practice using models and functional tissue. Participants will perform tracer injection techniques (ICG, Patent Blue) as well as sentinel lymph node identification, dissection, and excision on functional tissues.
By the end of this two-day workshop, participants will:
- Understand the role of sentinel lymph node biopsy in the staging and treatment of breast cancer, melanoma, and gynecological and gastrointestinal neoplasms;
- Have the knowledge to interpret histopathological results from sentinel lymph node analysis and understand how these findings influence oncological treatment decisions;
- Be able to determine indications and contraindications for the use of sentinel lymph node biopsy;
- Be equipped to select the appropriate tracer for identifying sentinel lymph nodes in the staging of cutaneous, gynecological, or gastrointestinal neoplasms;
- Gain practical experience in identifying anatomical areas injected with radioactive tracers and detecting sentinel lymph nodes with radioactive uptake;
- Practice ICG injection techniques, and perform classical or laparoscopic identification and dissection of sentinel lymph nodes;
- Acquire the knowledge required to apply sentinel lymph node excision protocols, including indication, patient preparation, surgical technique, and postoperative care;
- Learn how to recognize and manage potential complications and intraoperative incidents related to sentinel lymph node biopsy.
By the end of the workshop, you will feel more confident in your ability and practical skills to apply fundamental techniques for sentinel lymph node detection and biopsy. You will be ready to implement this modern diagnostic method, primarily used in breast cancer and melanoma surgery, with potential applications in other oncological contexts as well.
