This hands-on workshop is designed for residents in general surgery, gynecology, and urology with little to no prior experience in laparoscopic surgery, who wish to build a strong foundation in minimally invasive techniques.
Throughout the 3-day training, participants will:
- Learn the principles of laparoscopic surgery, including laparoscopic imaging fundamentals, ergonomics, operating room safety, basic laparoscopic equipment, and safe use of surgical energy.
- Receive training in the safe creation of pneumoperitoneum.
- Develop camera navigation skills to ensure optimal intraoperative visualization.
- Acquire and practice essential laparoscopic techniques such as object grasping and manipulation, bimanual coordination, hand–eye coordination, dissection, cutting, clipping, use of endo-loops and endo-bags, insertion and extraction of materials, tissue handling, laparoscopic needle handling, suturing, and knot tying.
- Gain insight into the principles of teamwork and communication in the operating room.
- Understand how to recognize and manage incidents and adverse events in laparoscopic surgery.
The program includes:
- Limited theoretical lectures, video sessions, and case discussions
- Intensive hands-on training under direct supervision of the faculty
By the end of the event, participants will:
- Feel confident in initiating their careers in minimally invasive surgery.
- Have mastered foundational laparoscopic skills required for safe clinical practice.
- Strengthen both their theoretical and practical knowledge to ensure safer, more precise, and individualized surgical procedures.
