ARCE organizes, in collaboration with the Surgical Training Institute Bucharest team and SRCT 1994, during the period April 18-19, the „Video Assisted Pulmonary Resections” hands-on workshop.

The workshop, accredited by the Romanian College of Physicians, is addressed to resident physicians and specialists in thoracic surgery, with little or medium experience in thoracic surgery.

The workshop comprises theoretical lectures, video presentations, case discussions, practice on model and functional tissues.

The team of experts includes:

Dr. Duan Liang, surgeon with more than 1,000 pulmonary resections performed, works in one of the most performing centers in the world, Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital.

Dr. Madalina Grigoriu, Romanian surgeon with extensive experience in VATS, especially in pulmonary segmentectomies and lobectomies, works in France at the Mutualiste Montsouris Institute.

Dr. Boubia Souheil, surgeon with extensive experience in inflammatory and infectious pathology, works in Casablanca, Morocco at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire IBN Rochd.

During the workshop, the attendants:

- will learn to use the imaging chain to provide quality images during surgery;
- will acquire the necessary knowledge for spatial orientation and correct interpretation of surgical anatomy, seen from the perspective of the laparoscopic approach;

- will acquire the necessary knowledge for the correct use of modern electrosurgical devices;

- will practice the handiness of the right hand and of the left hand, in order to learn the correct gestures for the manipulation and exposure of the anatomical structures;

- will practice the sharp and blunt dissection, clipping, sectioning;

- will learn the gestures for inserting drain tubes, extracting parts, closing trocar holes;

- will learn the simple modalities to perform laparoscopic surgical nodes;

- will practice the safe sectioning of vessels, bronchia and parenchyma;

- will acquire the necessary knowledge for increasing the efficiency of the operative gestures and reducing the intraoperative risks and incidents.

At the end of the workshop, you will be more confident in your theoretical knowledge and your practical skills concerning the laparoscopic approach and you will be able to start using these techniques in your current practice.

The number of possible attendants is limited to 18.
